# Teledyne FLIR R80D SkyRaider – Tactical Multi-Mission UAV

The R80D SkyRaider from Teledyne FLIR is a next-generation tactical VTOL unmanned aerial vehicle designed to bridge the gap between Group 1 portability and Group 2/3 payload capability. It offers advanced intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and delivery functionality in a compact, rugged package.

Key Capabilities & Advantages

1. Payload & Delivery Capability

The R80D supports payloads up to 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg), enabling integration of sensors, delivery modules, and specialized mission kits. It can carry, drop, or emplace mission items via its modular Osprey delivery system.

2. AI & Autonomous Processing

Built with embedded AI compute (e.g. multiple NVIDIA processors), SkyRaider processes data at the network edge — performing object detection, classification, target tracking, and real-time decision logic, even in GPS-denied or communications-denied scenarios.

3. Modular Open Architecture

With its Payload Development Kit (PDK), the aircraft supports hot-swappable payloads and custom integrations. Sensor modules include EO/IR (StormCaster, HDZoom, EO/IR Mk-II), and a front EO/IR “Frontcam” for situational awareness even when other payloads are installed.

4. Performance & Endurance

Typical endurance exceeds 40 minutes, and with XL battery upgrades can surpass 60 minutes. It reaches ground speeds around 50 km/h, with ascent/descent rates of ~4 m/s and 3 m/s respectively.

5. Harsh Environment & Resilience

Constructed from carbon fiber and magnesium, the SkyRaider meets IP-54 and MIL-STD-810G standards. It operates in winds up to ~65 km/h, altitudes up to ~15,000 ft, and across a temperature range from −20 °C to 50 °C.

6. Secure & Tactical Features

Equipped with redundant navigation, MIMO communications, and RaiderOS cybersecurity architecture, the R80D supports secure mission execution and autonomous fallback operations when link is lost.
