The Heron TP, also known as Eitan, is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). This platform is built for high-performance operational roles including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, targeting, and when required – strike missions. Designed for endurance, range, versatility, and reliability, the Heron TP excels in demanding environments.

Key Features and Capabilities

• Endurance and High Altitude: Capable of staying aloft for more than 30 hours with a service ceiling of around 45,000 ft (~13,700 m), allowing operations above commercial air traffic.

• Large Payload Capacity: Payloads of approximately 1,000 kg can be carried, enabling installation of multiple advanced sensors such as EO/IR, SAR, ELINT/COMINT, MPR, laser range finders, and more.

• Robust Performance: Powered by a 1,200 hp turboprop engine (Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67A), the UAV achieves maximum speeds around 407 km/h (220 knots) and has a wingspan of 26 m with a length of about 14 m.

• All-Weather Operation & Safety Systems: Designed with automatic take-off and landing (ATOL), triple-redundant avionics, ability to operate in all weather, and a structure that ensures safe operations even over urban areas.

• Versatile Mission Roles: Roles include surveillance, reconnaissance, target acquisition, maritime patrol, electronic intelligence gathering, and optional strike capability. The Heron TP integrates various payloads and communication links including SATCOM for beyond line-of-sight operations.
