# Israel Aerospace Industries BirdEye 650D – Small Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (STUAS)

The BirdEye 650D from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is a tactical small UAS designed to bridge the capabilities gap between mini-UAVs and larger systems. It is built for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, law enforcement, disaster monitoring and other field-intense missions where long flight times, range, payload flexibility, and autonomy are required.

Key Features and Capabilities

• Endurance & Range: Capable of staying aloft for more than 15 hours, with a mission radius of up to 150 km, enabling persistent coverage of large operational areas. Service ceiling over 15,000 ft ensures good altitude for surveillance.

• Payload & Performance: With a maximum takeoff weight of approximately 30 kg and payload capacity of around 5.5 kg, it supports high-quality electro-optical sensors, day/night imagers, and optional ECM equipment. Cruising speed around 40 knots, maximum speed up to 80 knots.

• Autonomy & Launch/Recovery: Fully automated flight capability, point takeoff, point recovery. Launched via catapult, recovered via parachute and airbag with flip-over safety design to protect sensitive sensors.

• Versatility & Low Signature: Gasoline engine propulsion for longer missions; designed for low noise and visual signature. Modular payload options allow adapting to different mission sets from ISR to civil monitoring or environmental oversight.
