Textron Systems Corporation has secured a contract to deliver three Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL UAS to Nigerian security provider Tantita Security Services, bolstering protection for vital oil and gas infrastructure.
Textron Systems has secured a contract to supply three Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL uncrewed aircraft systems to Tantita Security Services in Nigeria. The hybrid quadrotor aircraft enable runway-independent operations, are delivered in an ITAR-free configuration, and include options for specialised training and additional aircraft procurement.
According to David Phillips, Senior Vice President, Air, Land and Sea Systems,

The Aerosonde system’s demonstrated performance and benchmark-setting reliability will enable the Tantita team to expand its capabilities to protect the oil and gas infrastructure essential to Nigerian security and prosperity.”
The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 builds on over 700,000 global flight hours and deployment on more than 10 U.S. Navy ships, following a prior Foreign Military Sale to Nigeria. It supports multi-mission versatility with various payload configurations in VTOL and fixed-wing modes for effective monitoring of high-risk sectors.
The systems offer twice the operational flexibility of runway-dependent alternatives, enabling persistent surveillance in remote oil and gas areas while maintaining high reliability for long-duration missions.
Textron Systems emphasized the platform's modular design, allowing rapid adaptation of sensors and payloads to evolving security needs in contested environments. This positions the UAS as a scalable solution for infrastructure protection and maritime domain awareness.
