ALTUS LSA Develops UAV Platforms for Collaborative Disaster-Response Projects

ByALTUS LSA

ALTUS LSA has joined two coordinated European disaster-response initiatives aimed at strengthening aerial logistics, situational awareness and large-scale intelligence gathering for complex emergency operations.

ALTUS LSA, a developer of turnkey unmanned aerial systems for civilian and defence applications, is participating in the FORESIGHT Project while also working alongside the PANTHEON Project as part of a dual-track approach designed to improve the speed, safety and effectiveness of disaster response missions.

The company is developing specialised drone platforms intended to support critical operations in demanding and high-risk environments, including areas affected by heavy smoke, damaged infrastructure and restricted access.

The FORESIGHT Project supports emergency response in zero-visibility and disaster-isolated locations by deploying heavy-lift multicopter UAVs carrying 40–100 kilogram payloads for medical supplies, tools and relief delivery. Laser beacons and LiDAR sensors provide navigation support and real-time situational awareness where conventional visual systems fail during complex rescue operations for responders.

In parallel, the PANTHEON Project concentrates on wide-area mapping and persistent surveillance. By combining coordinated technologies such as fixed-wing unmanned aircraft and drone swarm operations, the project enables large-scale data collection across extensive urban and regional areas. The information gathered is used to generate a Digital Twin of the affected environment, offering emergency authorities a comprehensive view of damage levels, infrastructure status and potential secondary hazards.

Together, the two initiatives address complementary operational requirements during disaster response. FORESIGHT delivers heavy-lift logistics, precise equipment deployment and real-time visibility in high-risk and hard-to-reach locations, while PANTHEON provides rapid, wide-area intelligence to support command, coordination and strategic decision-making.

Through its participation, ALTUS LSA is contributing directly to the development of next-generation UAV platforms for aerial operations under the Horizon Europe framework, reinforcing its role in advancing unmanned aviation capabilities for large-scale, multi-agency disaster management operations.
