# Textron Systems Shadow – Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (TUAS)
The Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (TUAS) by Textron Systems is one of the most combat-proven UAS platforms in service, delivering over 1.3 million flight hours, with more than 85% flown in combat. The latest RQ-7Bv2 Block III configuration advances the Shadow’s legacy with digital architecture, increased payload capacity, and multi-mission versatility for defense and reconnaissance operations.
With a heritage of over three decades in UAS innovation, the Shadow has supported U.S. and allied forces through some of the most demanding missions. Its robust design and operational record ensure mission readiness in austere environments.
Optimized for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), communications relay, and target designation, the Shadow integrates easily with manned aircraft and ground assets through Level of Interoperability 4 manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T).
Capable of carrying up to 43 kg (95 lb) of payload, the system supports HD EO/IR sensors, laser designators, and communications relay modules. The aircraft’s digital backbone allows easy payload reconfiguration for mission-specific roles.
Featuring a 24% increase in engine power, 60% reduced noise signature, and improved weather tolerance, the RQ-7Bv2 Block III can operate in 2 inches of rain per hour and at altitudes up to 18,000 ft.
Shadow’s automatic landing system and short-field arresting gear enable operation from limited or unprepared runways, enhancing deployment flexibility for expeditionary missions.
