# Insitu ScanEagle VTOL – Long-Endurance ISR with Vertical Takeoff and Landing
The ScanEagle VTOL is Insitu’s evolution of its proven long-endurance ISR platform, enhanced with the FLARES VTOL system to minimize operational footprint without compromising endurance or payload capability. This innovative integration allows for runway-free launch and recovery, expanding deployment options on both land and sea.
The ScanEagle VTOL delivers 18+ hours of endurance while carrying up to 17 lbs (8 kg) of modular payloads, powered by up to 150 W, ensuring sustained surveillance and mission effectiveness.
The FLARES system enables vertical takeoff and recovery with no aircraft modifications required. It supports launches within 30 minutes, even in confined spaces, making the system highly portable. FLARES can be transported in standard vehicles and deployed in austere environments.
With a ceiling of 19,500 ft and a speed of 80 knots, ScanEagle VTOL is built for persistent ISR. It remains resilient in GPS-contested environments with alternative navigation options, ensuring reliable operations.
Supports EO/IR cameras, SAR with GMTI/MMTI, laser targeting tools, SIGINT, AIS, electronic warfare, and AI-assisted wide-area maritime search. Payloads are field-swappable, enabling rapid reconfiguration for diverse missions.
Transportable via a pickup or cargo van, the ScanEagle VTOL is ready for deployment with minimal crew. Its common ground control station (cGCS) ensures interoperability across NATO and allied forces, while maintaining compatibility with other Insitu UAV systems.
