# General Atomics Gray Eagle – Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance UAV
GA-ASI's Gray Eagle Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) is an advanced derivative of the combat-proven Predator®, developed to support the U.S. Army's Aviation Modernization Plan. It is a reliable and affordable tactical UAS solution providing persistent Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA) and attack operations.
Gray Eagle offers up to 25 hours of endurance, a max speed of 167 KTAS, and can operate at altitudes up to 29,000 feet, enabling long-duration missions in support of ground forces.
The aircraft has a maximum internal payload capacity of 575 lb (261 kg) and an external capacity of 500 lb (227 kg), for a total payload of 1,075 lb. It is capable of carrying a variety of sensors and up to four AGM-114 Hellfire missiles.
Powered by a heavy fuel engine, Gray Eagle supports the Army's *single fuel* concept. It features a fault-tolerant control system and triple-redundant avionics for high reliability, meeting manned aircraft reliability standards.
This long-range, long-dwell UAS is dedicated to direct operational control by Army field commanders, with an expansive mission set that includes wide-area ISR, convoy protection, IED detection and defeat, and close air support.
Gray Eagle features an Automatic Takeoff and Landing System (ATLS), allowing it to launch and recover without operator interaction. It can also be controlled from a U.S. Army One System Ground Station.
