New DJI Matrice 400 Firmware Adds Zenmuse L3 Support and Patrol Route Function
DJI Communications
November 11, 2025 (SHENZHEN, China) – DJI has released a major firmware update for its Matrice 400 RTK drone, introducing support for the new Zenmuse L3 LiDAR payload and a Patrol Route feature, further enhancing the drone’s capabilities for professional mapping, surveying, and inspection missions.
The update, now available through DJI Pilot 2 and DJI Assistant, integrates full compatibility with the Zenmuse L3, a next-generation LiDAR and RGB hybrid sensor designed for high-precision 3D mapping. This addition significantly expands the M400’s versatility, enabling users to capture accurate point cloud data with higher density and clarity in complex environments.
“With Zenmuse L3 support, the Matrice 400 becomes a powerful all-in-one aerial mapping platform,” said a DJI spokesperson. “This firmware empowers professionals to complete more advanced surveying tasks with improved accuracy and workflow efficiency.”
Alongside payload compatibility, the new Patrol Route feature introduces the ability to plan, record, and automate repeat flight paths—a major advantage for infrastructure inspections, power line surveys, and security operations. Users can now execute consistent and automated missions, reducing manual intervention and operational errors.
Other improvements in the firmware include:
- Optimized flight stability under heavy payload conditions
- Enhanced obstacle avoidance algorithms for complex terrains
- Streamlined data synchronization and mission replay options
- Updated SDK support for third-party integrations
Industry experts say the update signals DJI’s continued push to strengthen its enterprise ecosystem, offering more integrated tools for sectors like construction, energy, and public safety.
“This update brings the M400 closer to the capabilities of larger industrial platforms while maintaining its compact design and reliability,” said Daniel Liu, a UAV systems analyst at AeroTech Research Group. “It’s a smart move that meets the growing demand for flexible, high-performance mapping solutions.”
The firmware update can be downloaded immediately through DJI Pilot 2 (v7.1 or later), with installation instructions provided on DJI’s official website.
