September 3, 2025 (SAN FRANCISCO, CA) – Aurelius Defense Technologies, a rising player in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) innovation, announced today that it has secured $10 million in Series A funding to accelerate the development and deployment of its next-generation laser-based counter-drone system. The funding round was led by Helios Ventures, with participation from SkyShield Capital and several defense-sector investors.
“This investment enables us to bring our scalable laser defense technology from prototype to full operational readiness,” said Dr. Marcus Levin, CEO and Co-Founder of Aurelius. “As drones become more accessible and sophisticated, the need for precise, rapid-response countermeasures has never been greater.”
The Aurelius system—known internally as “Lynx-LD” (Laser Defense)—uses high-energy laser beams to detect, track, and neutralize unauthorized drones within seconds. Designed for both military and critical infrastructure protection, the system leverages AI-assisted targeting and adaptive beam control to ensure accuracy while minimizing collateral damage.
Unlike traditional electronic jamming systems, which can interfere with nearby communication networks, the Lynx-LD offers a clean, directed-energy solution that silently disables drone threats without creating signal disruption. The technology is being tested in collaboration with several U.S. defense agencies and energy sector partners.
“Aurelius’ approach represents a new era of drone defense—compact, efficient, and scalable,” said Liam Chen, Managing Partner at Helios Ventures. “We see immense potential in their technology as both governments and private operators seek reliable countermeasures against aerial threats.”
The newly raised funds will be used to expand Aurelius’ engineering team, enhance AI targeting algorithms, and scale production of the Lynx-LD units for early customers in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. The company is also pursuing Department of Defense certifications to position its system for broader deployment across federal agencies and allied defense networks.
As the global drone market continues to grow, concerns over unauthorized surveillance and airspace security have fueled demand for effective counter-drone technologies. Aurelius aims to position itself at the forefront of this rapidly expanding sector, providing defense-grade protection for a drone-saturated world.
